Panthera, the funder, is dedicated to the conservation of the world's wild cats and their ecosystems, aiming to ensure a future for these species through scientific research and global conservation strategies.
The Small Cat Action Fund (SCAF) is a grant program by Panthera, managed with the IUCN Cat Specialist Group's oversight, focusing on in-situ conservation and research of small cat species, excluding big cats like those in the genera Panthera, Acinonyx, and pumas. The grant supports a wide range of small wild cats across various global locations, with no geographical restrictions apart from the necessity of the presence of the target species in the wild. Eligible projects may also seek funding for genetic analysis in partnership with the American Museum of Natural History to address conservation genetic issues through preferably noninvasive sampling methods.
