This program focuses on the preliminary or pilot phase of research projects with the goal of advancing scientific knowledge and clinical practices. Specifically, the grant supports endeavors that facilitate the development of surgeon scientists by providing funding, up to $10,000 for 1-year pilot projects, that enables researchers to set the stage for securing further support from larger funding agencies.
