The Rhode Island Foundation seeks to address the health and healthcare needs of Rhode Islanders by managing and distributing funds from generous donors. These funds are designated for specific medical conditions, aiming to support nonprofit organizations working within these areas to improve health outcomes and address health inequities and disparities across the state.
The Juanita Sánchez Community Fund offers grant assistance to nonprofit organizations in Rhode Island that aim to enrich or improve the lives of the Latino community. Grants focus on projects that can offer meaningful benefits, with a general grant range of $500 to $1,500. However, the fund does not prioritize projects related to translation and interpretation signage/language. While supporting both new and ongoing initiatives, the grants are mainly intended for one-time costs, and applicants for the same project or initiative are rarely considered for renewed support in subsequent years. Organizations outside Rhode Island may apply if their project serves or supports the Rhode Island Latino community, but these will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
