Speedway Children's Charities, Dover Motor Speedway Chapter, aims to meet the critical needs of all children by operating as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. They raise funds through various events throughout the year, which are then distributed to deserving children's organizations.
The SCC Charlotte Grants program has, since its inception in 1982, allocated over $61 million to support local children in need. Initially focusing on a broad array of needs including educational support, the program has shifted its focus to address more dire and less covered issues. The new priority areas include aiding the homeless, orphan/foster communities, and victims of sex trafficking, recognizing these as critical and growing concerns within the community, especially given Charlotte's ranking among the top 20 cities for human trafficking. The grants aim to support organizations that deliver services in these priority areas, which encompass victim support for human trafficking, homelessness, critical needs (such as food, clothing, and shelter), medical, and educational needs, marking a strategic shift towards funding endeavors that make a significant impact on addressing critical needs.
