Since 2002, The TK Foundation has aimed at improving the maritime realm and the lives of disadvantaged youth. Through over $46 million in grants, it supports non-profit organizations and projects, enhancing opportunities for youth in education, training, and life skills towards self-sufficiency.
The TK Foundation's grant program aims to bolster non-profit youth sailing initiatives that engage disadvantaged youth to foster a hands-on connection with the ocean, challenging them in maritime environments, teaching responsible seamanship and environmental stewardship, and imparting pivotal life skills. The grant seeks projects that provide continual educational experiences, promote responsibility through experiential learning like internships, enhance leadership skills via volunteerism and peer mentorship, and support young individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. These programs should embrace The TK Foundation’s core values: providing support that empowers rather than enables, ensuring long-term impact, pioneering innovation, upholding integrity, and ensuring direct engagement between organizations and their beneficiaries. The foundation has allocated $500,000 USD for grants, with individual grant amounts ranging from $4,000 to $15,000 annually. Multiyear funding requests for up to three years are also considered.
