    Overview

The Green and Resilient Retrofit Program (GRRP), authorized by the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, directs its investments towards affordable housing communities serving low-income families, prioritizing energy efficiency, renewable energy generation, and climate resilience. GRRP represents HUD's commitment to intertwining technological advancements in utility efficiency and climate hazard preparedness to protect residents and properties. This program differentiates by offering funding through three cohorts, each designed to cater to specific needs within HUD’s assisted multifamily portfolio, including awards for adding climate resilience and carbon reduction measures, rapidly meeting ambitious goals without extensive HUD collaboration, and initiating deep retrofits centered around innovative energy and greening measures.
