    Overview

The grant program's broad goals are to prevent and reduce alcohol use among youth and young adults ages 12-20 across the United States. The program focuses on: addressing norms around youth alcohol use, reducing opportunities for underage drinking, creating changes in underage drinking enforcement efforts, addressing penalties for underage use, and reducing negative consequences associated with underage drinking such as motor vehicle crashes and sexual assaults. Additionally, applicants are expected to build on strategic plans developed under a Drug Free Communities (DFC) grant.
