Type of Support

Overview

The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) is the flagship conservation program from NRCS, designed to assist farmers, ranchers, and forest landowners in incorporating conservation practices into their operations. EQIP aims to provide both technical and financial assistance to help tackle natural resource concerns. This includes improving water and air quality, conserving water resources, enhancing soil health, reducing erosion, and supporting wildlife habitats. Additionally, EQIP promotes practices that address drought and weather volatility, mitigates climate change through improved carbon sequestration, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and supports the overall resilience of agricultural landscapes. EQIP also offers targeted financial assistance through various conservation initiatives such as Organic Initiative, Landscape Conservation Initiative, On-Farm Energy Initiative, Urban Agriculture, Source Water Protection, and Climate. Another aspect of EQIP is the provision of Conservation Innovation Grants which encourage the development and adoption of innovative conservation technologies and approaches.
