Valero, its employees, and the Valero Energy Foundation are committed to improving the quality of life in communities where they operate. They aim to set the standard for corporate citizenship by promoting prosperity, primarily focusing on supporting disadvantaged children and families. The Foundation seeks to fulfill a mission of enhancing community well-being and safety by addressing basic needs, healthcare, education, and civic and environmental initiatives.
The grant program from Valero and the Valero Energy Foundation operates on an invitation-only basis, supporting nonprofit agencies that work with predominantly disadvantaged children and families in areas where Valero has major operations. The foundation focuses on four key pillars: 1) Basic Needs, providing shelter, food, and clothing to build strong and safe communities, 2) Health Care, investing in community health resources and facilities, including children’s hospitals and specialized service providers, 3) Education, advocating for educational foundations for children and productive lives for adults, and 4) Civic, supporting civic and environmental initiatives that contribute to the success of their communities. In 2019, about $40 million was contributed to assist community efforts in these areas.
