The designated “Office of Cultural Resources” for the City of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, and six suburban towns focuses on advocacy, cultural education, planning, fundraising, grant making, public art, and workshops for the cultural community. It aims to ensure access to a high-quality, relevant, and sustainable cultural community for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Region by combining local, state, and private resources to maximize community impact.
The Creative Renewal Fellowship by ASC is designed to support the sustainability of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg cultural community through direct investment in creative individuals. This fellowship offers established artists based in Mecklenburg County a period for rest and creative exploration without the requirement to produce a final project. It allows for a range of activities such as research, instruction, conferences, apprenticeships, travel, or other experiences that foster creative growth. Funds can be used for travel, housing, and equipment necessary for these activities but not for degree-seeking coursework. The fellowship aims to connect the use of funds to enhance the applicant's artistic voice and practice, encouraging applications that clearly articulate how the proposed activities would benefit their creative journey.
