The Greater Augusta Arts Council aims to enrich the quality of life for citizens and visitors in Augusta's River Region by promoting vibrant cultural arts.
The City Arts Granting Program, funded by the City of Augusta and administered by the Greater Augusta Arts Council (GAAC), is designed to support nonprofit arts organizations within the community. The program acknowledges the critical role of public financial assistance in sustaining a diverse range of artistic disciplines and expressions. For fiscal year 2024, the program offers funding for both General Operating Expenses and specific Art Projects. General operating grants can go up to $7,000, supporting aspects like administration, fiscal responsibility, marketing, arts education, and diversity efforts. Project-specific grants, capped at $5,000, focus on administration, fiscal responsibility, community impact, diversity, and commitment to quality. The aim is to: 1) provide arts programming and educational opportunities, 2) promote the region as a cultural destination, 3) bolster the capacity and stability of local arts and cultural organizations, and 4) enhance economic development through the arts. Grant applications are reviewed by a community panel ensuring a fair and professional process.
