    BrightFocus funds U.S. and international research aimed at enhancing understanding, prevention, and treatment of glaucoma and other diseases, having contributed over $35 million towards glaucoma research since 1978.

    Type of Support

    Overview

    The grant program from BrightFocus offers financial support for pioneering Alzheimer's disease research both in the U.S. and internationally. It aims to fund projects that lead to significant advancements in the understanding, prevention, and treatment of Alzheimer’s. The program encourages applications from researchers from underrepresented groups in this field. There are two types of awards available:

    1. Standard Awards, which are designed for researchers who have preliminary data and need further progress to seek other funding opportunities. These awards offer $300,000 over three years.
    2. Postdoctoral Fellowship Awards, aimed at young researchers in the latter stages of their mentored training to help lay the foundation for their independent research careers. These awards provide $200,000 over two years.
