The mission of the Bronx Cultural Vision Fund (BCVF) is to support the live performing arts scene in the Bronx by funding the development of new concepts and the production of new work, emphasizing projects by Bronx-based individual artists, collectives, and nonprofit arts organizations in theater, music, dance, or multidisciplinary forms. BCVF aims to make significant investments in the borough’s performing arts community, developing long-term relationships with grantees.
The Bronx Cultural Vision Fund grants are designed to bolster the live performing arts in the Bronx by offering financial support for both the development of new concepts and the production of new works. These grants are specifically aimed at emerging and mid-career level artists working in theater, music, dance, or multidisciplinary forms. The fund offers two types of support: Concept Development Grants, providing up to $10,000 for the early stages of project conceptualization, and Production Grants, offering up to $20,000 for the realization of new projects. Production doesn't have to be within the Bronx, albeit it must take place in NYC. Each grant cycle guarantees at least five awards for each grant type. Additionally, all grantees qualify for up to $2,500 in professional development support, intended for activities that enhance skills or strengthen capacity, like consultancies and classes, or for purchasing critical equipment or software. Participation in at least three cohort meetings during the one-year grant period is required for all grantees.
