The Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin aims to enhance the betterment of communities in its nine-county service area through the support and management of community funds. The Darlington Excellence in Education (EIE) Fund aims to inspire teachers and students by promoting innovative educational programs and rewarding exceptional achievements. Established from Dr. Lyle Olson's bequest in 2003, it has contributed nearly $107,000 to community endeavors. As part of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin’s broader efforts, EIE funds, including the Darlington EIE Fund, play a crucial role in strengthening school communities through private charitable resources. These funds support educational innovation, excellence, and local involvement without being under direct school board control, demonstrating a commitment to academic and community excellence.
