We inspire and steward generosity to foster vibrant, inclusive, and healthy communities throughout Mendocino County.
The ReLeaf Tree Planting Fund aims to foster and maintain urban forests within Mendocino County's cities and unincorporated areas for public benefit. It prioritizes projects that use native trees and present a comprehensive maintenance and reporting plan. Supported initiatives may include establishing fruit tree orchards for food banks, planting street, park, school, and after-care program trees. Successful applicants must demonstrate public benefit; use funds for trees and necessary planting materials; favor native species that thrive locally, including fruit and nut trees where appropriate; specify watering systems, preferably expandable drip irrigation; and provide a 5-year management plan detailing quarterly care activities.
