The Black Feminist Fund is dedicated to significantly increasing the resources available to Black feminist movements worldwide. Recognizing the transformative power of Black feminism, the fund aims to rectify the underfunding of these groups. By empowering Black feminist organizations with the resources they need, the Black Feminist Fund believes in strengthening the capacity of these movements to enact societal change.
The Black Feminist Fund operates through two participatory grantmaking Funds: The Sustain Fund and the Solidarity Fund. These funds aim to provide core, long-term, and flexible grants to Black feminist groups, collectives, organizations, and consortiums dedicated to building collective power, claiming justice, and creating alternatives. The grants support bold visions, innovative strategies, and daring actions that advance the rights and social change movements led by their constituencies. Specifically, the Sustain Fund intends to award at least 15 grants in its first cycle with a total of $1.5M, offering opportunities for exchange and learning from the second year of partnership. This fund opens every two years to ensure sustained support for their grantee partners.
