    The grant program has broad goals underpinned by principles that encourage supporting effective organizations to foster transformative change in communities. Specifically, it supports causes in:

    • Education: Enhancing educational opportunities for all children in North Dakota, with a focus on lifelong learning and healthy social-emotional development. The Foundation backs high-performing schools and evidence-based programs aimed at making dramatic gains in education.
    • Health & Science: Improving the availability of superior medical care, supporting mental health through various programs, and funding disease-specific support projects. Geographical focuses for these grants include the Bismarck-Mandan area and Western North Dakota.
    • Human Services: Supporting services aimed at helping vulnerable populations of all ages to maintain or enhance their quality of life. This could be due to financial, emotional, or physical challenges.
    • Arts & Humanities: Funding programs that preserve and expand artistic knowledge and combine arts and humanities disciplines. The Foundation aims at building communities through cultural discovery, audience building, and promoting creative excellence. Grants include single and multi-year commitments for direct program funding, general operating grants, endowments, scholarships, and capital campaigns, with a geographical emphasis on Bismarck-Mandan and Western North Dakota areas.
