We deliver conservation solutions so agricultural producers can protect natural resources and feed a growing world.
The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) is the flagship conservation initiative by NRCS designed to support farmers, ranchers, and forest landowners in integrating conservation efforts into their working lands. Through EQIP, technical and financial assistance is provided to tackle natural resource concerns. This encompasses improving water and air quality, conserving ground and surface water, increasing soil health, reducing erosion, enhancing wildlife habitat, and countering drought and weather challenges. EQIP emphasizes one-on-one collaborations to devise a conservation plan tailoring practices and activities that benefit both the environment and agricultural operations. It offers financial aid for implementing these practices, including potential advance payments for some producers. Additionally, EQIP promotes the reduction of agricultural contamination, efficient nutrient use, improved soil health, and the adoption of climate-smart practices to bolster carbon sequestration and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, underscoring a commitment to resilient and sustainable landscapes.
