Wegmans Donation Request: How to Apply Online and What They Give (2026 Guide)

Wegmans takes donation requests only through its online portal and most often gives store gift cards. Inside: what qualifies, how far ahead to apply, and the 47% odds seen on TheShareWay.

Wegmans takes donation and sponsorship requests only through its online request portal. It does not accept written, faxed or emailed requests. Requests should fit one of Wegmans' giving priorities (hunger relief, health, education and economic mobility, youth support, and community and collaboration), and Wegmans asks you to allow at least four weeks for a response. Most approved requests tracked on TheShareWay receive a Wegmans gift card, picked up at a local store. About 47% of Wegmans donation requests tracked on TheShareWay succeed. You can start a request on Wegmans' portal and track it on Wegmans' TheShareWay page.

    What Wegmans donates

Wegmans' community giving covers daily food donations from its stores, support for food banks, and sponsorships and donations to local nonprofits. For the event requests most organizers make, the answer is usually a gift card.

    • Gift cards. Wegmans donations tracked on TheShareWay are typically worth $50–$200, with a median of $100, and almost all are gift cards. Some groups receive two or more cards for one event.
    • Food and water for events. A smaller number of nonprofits report receiving food or cases of water for an event instead.
    • Local pickup. Nearly all approved donations tracked on TheShareWay are picked up at a Wegmans store, so plan for someone nearby to collect it.

A Wegmans gift card works well as a raffle prize, a silent auction add-on or a way to buy food for your event.

Who can request a Wegmans donation

    • Your request should fit a Wegmans priority: hunger relief, health, education and economic mobility, youth support, or community and collaboration.
    • You should be near a store. Wegmans has more than 100 stores in nine states and Washington, D.C.: Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Most Wegmans requests on TheShareWay come from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York.
    • Some requests are always declined. Wegmans' list of requests it can't accommodate includes support for individuals' personal endeavors, college scholarships, faith-based agencies for religious purposes, professional development seminars and conferences, employee recognition events, travel for educational or extracurricular activities, pageants, other businesses' charitable fundraising, discounted gift card programs and political contributions.

Wegmans also doesn't allow selling, leafleting or other solicitation on its property, though it says it may consider a donation instead. Faith-based groups asking for humanitarian aid, such as food for people in need, may still be considered.

How to submit a Wegmans donation request

    1. Start about three months out. Wegmans asks for at least four weeks to respond, but approved Wegmans requests on TheShareWay were submitted a median of 93 days before the event. If your event is 90 or more days away, Wegmans says it will contact you closer to the date.
    2. Create an account on the portal. Go to wegmans.versaic.com, the Wegmans Proposal Management System, and choose "Create new account." You'll log in with your email address, and you can come back to the same portal to check your request's status.
    3. Make the case in Wegmans' terms. Say which priority your event serves and what the donation will make possible, such as meals served, students reached or dollars raised. TheShareWay's donation request letter template covers the same ground and is easy to adapt.
    4. Submit online only. Paper letters, emails and faxes aren't accepted, and asking a store manager in person is no substitute for the portal.
    5. Log the request on Wegmans' TheShareWay page so you have the date you applied and a reminder to follow up.

    After you apply

Wegmans responds to donation requests in a median of 29 days, based on applications tracked on TheShareWay. Check your status on the same portal you applied through. Nonprofits reviewing Wegmans on TheShareWay most often describe the process as easy and the response as quick.

If you're approved, expect to pick the donation up at your local store. If you're declined, Wegmans usually sends a short note saying it receives more requests than it can fund; try again for your next event, with more lead time and a clearer link to its priorities. Either way, a thank-you letter to the store keeps the relationship warm for next year.
