Artis supports contemporary artists from Israel whose work addresses aesthetic, social, and political questions that inspire reflection and debate. As a nonprofit organization based in New York, Artis aims to connect arts professionals with Israeli artists, foster artist engagement outside of Israel, and contextualize Israeli art within the international contemporary art discourse.
Artis’ exhibition grants aim to support solo and group presentations of Israeli artists at internationally recognized contemporary art organizations outside of Israel, including museums, nonprofits, biennials, and festivals. The program encourages exhibitions and projects that foster critical thinking, discussion, and cross-disciplinary cultural connections. Artis prioritizes proposals from leading art institutions that offer significant visibility and propose innovative engagement with artistic practice. A particular focus is on exhibitions addressing urgent environmental issues and climate crisis, aligning with Artis’ commitment to fostering an environmentally sustainable art world. Applications are welcome from institutions that demonstrate curatorial ambition, artistic experimentation, and practices of climate-consciousness in both their operations and exhibition-making.
